Read this before your moving day. Proper preparation makes the move faster, safer, and less expensive.
Empty Your Safe Completely
Remove ALL firearms, ammunition, and valuables before moving day. This is non-negotiable for three reasons:
Safety: Movement and jostling can damage firing mechanisms or cause accidental discharge. Weight: Adding 200 lbs of guns and ammo to an 800-lb safe makes it significantly more dangerous. Liability: Firearms must be transported separately in compliance with ATF transport regulations.
Measure Everything
Safe dimensions: Height (including feet), width (including handle), depth (including hinges). Check the manufacturer's spec sheet or the label inside the door for exact weight.
Every doorway the safe must pass through — interior and exterior. Width and height. Note thresholds and door stops.
Hallway width at the narrowest point. Confirm everything is ground level — we do not move safes on stairs.
Clear the Path & Be Present
Remove all furniture, decor, and obstacles along the full moving path at both pickup and delivery locations. Take down pictures on walls along the route. Remove area rugs — we use our own floor protection.
Be available to answer questions but let professionals work. Keep children and pets in a separate area. Take photos of pre-existing floor or wall imperfections before we start.
Inspect, Acclimate & Reload
Inspect the safe exterior immediately. Test door operation and the locking mechanism. Verify the safe is level (improper leveling affects door operation).
If moving from a climate-controlled home to a garage, allow the safe to acclimate for 24 hours before reloading. When reloading, place heavier items lower in the safe to maintain balance. Consider installing a GoldenRod dehumidifier to protect your firearms from Texas humidity.
