Full-Service vs. Labor-Only Movers

Two of the most popular and most affordable ways to move in DFW. Here's exactly what each includes, what they cost, and how to pick the one that saves you money.

Quick Answer
Full-service ($135/hr + truck) means movers handle everything door to door — they bring the truck and load and unload it. Labor-only ($109/hr, no truck) means you supply the truck, POD, or trailer and the crew loads and/or unloads it. Labor-only is cheapest if you already have a vehicle; full-service is easiest and best for true door-to-door moves.

Both are far cheaper than a big van-line move, and both use the same skilled crews. The right choice comes down to one question: do you want to handle the truck, or not?

Cost comparison

Labor-only's lower hourly rate wins when the truck is already covered — you've rented a U-Haul or ordered a POD. Full-service folds the truck, fuel, and driving into one price, which is simpler and often worth the small difference once you factor in rental, gas, and your time behind the wheel.

When to choose labor-only

  • You've already rented a truck or ordered a POD/ABF trailer.
  • You only need help on one end (just loading, or just unloading).
  • You're moving locally and comfortable driving the truck.
  • You want the lowest possible hourly rate.

When to choose full-service

  • You want a true door-to-door move with zero truck hassle.
  • You'd rather not drive a rental truck through DFW traffic.
  • Your move is larger or involves stairs, elevators, or specialty items.
  • You value convenience and a single, simple price.

If you already have a truck, POD, or trailer — yes. Labor-only is $109/hr (no truck) vs $135/hr for full-service with a truck. But full-service includes the truck, fuel, and equipment, so for a true door-to-door move the gap is small and the convenience is big.
Loading and/or unloading your rental truck, POD, or trailer — plus dollies, straps, and the muscle. You provide the vehicle. It's ideal when you've already rented a U-Haul or ordered a container.
Everything for a local move: the truck, 2+ movers, all equipment (pads, dollies, straps), and basic disassembly/reassembly — loaded at your old place and unloaded at the new one. Packing can be added.
Choose labor-only if you have (or want to rent) your own truck/POD and just need loading help. Choose full-service if you want a true door-to-door move without renting or driving a truck.
